Mike Burks

St. Catharine's Ontario

Hi there! I'm Mike Burks! I am 19 years old (single) & currrently enrolled at Brock University studying Business Communications. I am a very active individual who likes to keep a busy schedule. During the school year, aside from attending class and studying here and there, you can find me bright and early every morning at 5am down at Henley Island where I row for the Brock Novice team. Whenever the Niagara Ice Dogs are playing at home, you can finding me working the box office at Gatorade Garden City Complex. The little free time I have, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling and sipping on the odd beer or two, or three. Once the school year has wrapped up I jump right into my summer job, working as a beach lifeguard for the Toronto Police Service. We work very closely with the Toronto Police Marine Unit responding to boat calls, medical calls and individuals who find themselves in trouble on lake Ontario. On average I put in about 45-50 hours a week while also volunteering once a week with the "Community Outreach Rescue Program", run by the Toronto Police. This program is designed for at risk youth across the GTA. It is much like a summer camp and runs in the mornings before the start of my shift. Aside from basic swimming lessons, the kids are taught basic first aid, as well as what to do when they find danger knocking on their door. Once I complete my degree at Brock, I plan on becoming a police officer and following in my father's footsteps. Even though there is clearly more to me than I've been able to get across in so few words, this is me, in a nutshell. If you are however feeling compelled to know more, come talk to me. I promise i don't bite.
