Amherst, Massachusetts, United States
My name is Mike DiFonzo, I am a Junior Accounting Major in the Isenberg School of Management, at UMass Amherst. Starting out as a freshman, I was not fortunate enough to have a spot in the prestigious business school. This meant I had to work for the chance to call myself an Accounting major at UMass, I realized quickly that getting the required grades to transfer to Isenberg, was going to be quite the challenge. This coming from the guy who didn't put much real effort into high school, focusing on playing hockey at Westford Academy, or bussing tables at the British Beer Company instead. But I made it work, realizing that the hard work would be worth it in the long run, and I couldn't be happier today, looking back on that decision. In the future I hope to work at a Public Accounting firm, in Boston, MA. I have no specific firm in mind, only that I want to work at a place where I feel respected, challenged every day in a positive way, and work with a group of people that I want to get to know outside of the work environment. I feel that the people you work with on a day to day basis are crucial in your success at the company, no matter what the industry. The reason I want to work in Boston stems from the countless opprotunities that are located there in the Accounting sector. But my love for hockey is another reason I would like to work in Boston, the Boston Bruins have been my favorite sports team since I started playing hockey at age 5. Being able to rewind after a long day of work at a Bruins game with friends from work, or entertaining clients, that experience would be something I would really enjoy. Hockey is always a nice study or homework or work break for me, and I hope to keep it that way in my professional career, it's always something I can look forward during the season.
