Mike Brenner
Mike is CEO and Co-Founder of Betamore, a campus for entrepreneurship and technology in Baltimore. Since opening in Dec 2012, Betamore has become home to over a dozen web and mobile startups while also offering an educational curriculum to the community on topics in technology, business, and design.
Previous to that, Mike ran a creative web studio for 5 years called Sunrise Design.
In 2008, Mike headed up the creation of one of Baltimore’s largest tech/social meet-ups, Refresh Baltimore. After seeing a benefit in collaboration with other creative folks, he helped organize Baltimore’s first coworking space, Beehive Baltimore in 2009. In 2010, Mike became interested in the startup space and launched Startup Breakfast, a bimonthly breakfast club of folks interested in startups. Shortly after that began gaining traction, he launched StartupBaltimore.org which served as an online publication and organization focused on the early-stage tech and innovation community in Baltimore.
In 2012, Startup Baltimore was acquired by Technically Media out of Philadelphia which used the purchase to springboard the launch of their second regional publication, Technically Baltimore.
Mike also regularly organizes hackathons, including both of Baltimore's Startup Weekends, an education focused event in 2011 called Education Hack Day, and most recently an event called Reinvent Transit which focused on solving transit issues in Baltimore.
Mike lives in Canton and enjoys spending as much time outdoors as he possibly can.
