With over 40 plus years in renewable energy and environmental science, we are now retired empty-nesters who do organic farming and focus on simple and sustainable living practices that lead us towards new ways of doing things. This approach, profoundly, is very much about how America did things before the 1950's boom of big agri-business. Unfortunately, that model demands massive chemicals, large tracts of land, bank financed equipment on the scale the micro farmer can't support and numerous other non-sustainable practices. We call the land management and agricultural management practices we apply, 'sustainable living arts' as they take the best from the past and incorporate new practices for micro-farms/homesteads and fuse into a new, smarter, faster, cheaper, higher quality and more sustainable way of interacting with our land and livestock. We raise our own livestock and work with others to re-learn the old skills of logging/milling, goat milking, butter making, soap making, cheese making, fiber/wool spinning, seed saving, and animal husbandry. We do this out of love for the land, our livestock and healthy nutrition (for us and our soil).
