Mike Stone

Boston, MA

I was born and raised in the Boston area before heading up to Vermont to attend Middlebury College, graduating in 2009 with a degree in Economics. In November 2011 I launched my first startup, GivingSomeThing, which enables donors to send real goods to nonprofits (and it is fee-free!). Working on GivingSomeThing I wear many hats but my focus is on product and business development.

Largely because of my work on GivingSomeThing I have learned how valuable website design and development is to many startups. I have a particular interest in UI/UX and am self-taught, up to this point, in HTML and CSS. I am attending Boston Startup School to improve my skills in these areas, and learn new skills to help me make improvements on GivingSomeThing and beyond.

When not working on GivingSomeThing or attending Boston Startup School I play professional lacrosse on the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. I love being active and playing sports, and have a particular love for the game of lacrosse because it is fast-paced, physical, and action packed. I started playing for the Cannons in 2009 and have since won a MLL Championship and become an all-star in the league.
