"This could be the start of a beautiful friendship." - Claude Rains to Humphrey Bogart - Casablanca “Are you from outer space?" “No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in Outer Space" Capt. James Kirk - Wrath of Khan My father's family can trace our roots to Viking Olaf Tryggvesson, the first Christian King of Norway. Olaf was canonized in 1164 and was declared the patron saint of Norway. My mother's family came from Sweden. I was active in politics from childhood. I was a Page in the Iowa House of Representatives and was also a Page at the 1972 Republican National Convention and was elected Pocahontas County Republican Chairman at age 18 - the youngest county chair in the United States. Worked as a researcher for the Iowa House of Representatives and the Wisconsin Senate, was the Executive Assistant to Iowa Secretary of State, Mary Jane Odell, and held two political appointments in the administration of President George H. W. Bush. Was the Executive Director of the Minnesota Republican Party and managed the re-election campaign of Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson. Freelance writer. I've had Guest opinions published in newspapers throughout Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and Arizona. Published a children's newsletter, Letters from Trigsey where kids in 39 states and 7 countries received a monthly letter from my imaginary dachshund, Trigsey. Now I have a real Trigsey...but he's a Schnauzer. Sold clothing for Nordstrom in Virginia, Minnesota and Arizona. Worked as a Government Affairs Representative for TriWest Healthcare Alliance, a Phx. Defense Contractor and for the Phoenician Resort, a Five Diamond Starwood resort located in Scottsdale, AZ. Was named "Phoenician's Finest" for the fourth quarter of 2008. Was a candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives in 1976 and 1984. I didn't win either race...but came pretty damn close both times. Unfortunately, in recent years people like me are no longer welcome in the Republican Party. HOW SAD! I was a Presidential Elector for the State of Iowa in 1984 and cast one of Iowa's 8 electoral votes for Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Published my own cookbook - Picnics on a Whim or Who Needs a Reason for a Party. Someday I want to write a book about growing up in Rabbit Gulch...a neighborhood on the east side of Laurens, Iowa. There also has to be a book about funny stories that have happened to me during my life in politics, retail and in the hotel business.
