"God Grant Me SERENITY To Accept The Things I Cannot Change, COURAGE To Change The Things I Can, and WISDOM To Know The Difference"
I am a student-parent at NCCU. The title "parent" was added on to "student" when I became a mother to Serenity in high school. My career field that I plan to pursue is Psychology. I chose Psychology as my major because I want to help and encourage teenage parents, like myself, in the future. While pushing to obtain my degree to help teenage parents psychologically, I currently help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities- Direct Support Professional.
"The Serenity Prayer" has inspired my life the most. All three lines has played a roll in my life. God granted me my daughter, Serenity, to accept personal and social battles. I became encouraged to help other teenage parents who have now entered a new style of living; being a parent and a teenager. I have the courage to be a helping hand through therapeutic practices to empower teenage parents by reaching to obtain my B.A. and Masters in Psychology at NCCU. The Wisdom to know the difference concludes my life, I went through hard times but I did not have to do it alone, because I had Serenity. A lot of situations happened to me that i felt were unfair. Instead of falling, I changed the way I went about situations. I bettered myself and gained peace so I could endure a better life; all because of Serenity, who has taught me to be at piece, not in pieces.
