Pronounced “RIE-ən”, an Irish surname which was derived from Ó Riain meaning “descendent of Rían”. The given name Rían probably means “little king” (from Irish rí “king” combined with a diminutive suffix).I was born a Pisces early in 1991. Considering the world around us, I grew up comfortably. Maybe not easy, but definitely comfortably. I’m approximately aged at the same number you’d get if you took 2,014 and subtracted 1,991 from it. I’m not extremely young, but I’m no where near old.
For those who know me, you know already that I almost can’t and rarely leave my current household without something resting on my head. In the colder months, a “bum hat” (correctly known as a stocking hat) sits at the very top of my being. The other months you can find a hat not especially popular in the world today, known as the Five Panel replacing the bum hat. For those of you who don’t know me, now you should.
I picked up a Five Panel a year or two ago after seeing a series of skateboarders wearing them. (I’m not a poser, you’ll see why later.) Little did I know that after the first one I’d add two more to the collection, and hopefully more soon. They are kind of goofy looking, different you may say, but I enjoy the appearance of myself when I put one on.
So why did I decide to name this blog “Miller’s Five Panel”? Well, Miller is my last name and also what became the universal nickname throughout everyone who knows me, and to be completely honest, at the hour of 2 in the morning I decided I wanted to start (yet again…) another blog. This one came from a different idea and had been influenced by my friend’s interest in the blog world. The Five Panel is a cap with 5 panels woven together. After forgetting the part where I think of a title for this new blog during the idea process, I decided to go with the title because, like a “Five” Panel, there are 5 “panels” in my life that either make up who I am or contribute to why I am who I am.
Those five panels are as following: Christ, Family, Friends, Skateboarding, and Music. Interesting that my name means “Little King” considering the only king in my life is Jesus Christ, but it’s still a pretty cool background for a name. The other 4 panels may sound cliche, but let’s be real: they come up often because they are simply major parts of life that keeps one going.
Lastly, while you may read the above text and think to yourself, “wow, this kid can write!”, I am by no means a writ
