My name is Mills and I have a nostalgic obsession with the roaring twenties. As seen in my picture I like to think I can dress like Jay Gatsby (but I'm nowhere near as good .looking as Leo). This obsession started when I read my first book by my favorite author, F Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby. But what really ignited the flame was when I watched Midnight in Paris after I visited Paris my Junior year. From the first real social rebellion that was occurring to the live every day as if it was your last attitude by the soldiers returning home from the Great War, this truly was a special time that has never been recreated. The overall uniqueness of this time is greatly expressed through the arts with the great books, the new influx of dance, and the great jazz tunes. This expression of love and life is one of the main reasons I love this time period. I believe the people of this time had time traveling machines because they took to heart the quote from the 1980s band Def Leppard “Its better to burn out than fade away”. Because they very well burned out when the market crashed in 1928 due to the crazing spending and lavish living. But that is what I also love about this time because it teaches you a lesson: to love life but know your limits.
