Tim Langfeld
During a working career spanning over 30 years, I have built up a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience particularly in People Management, Customer Service and Office Admin., initially gained from a platform of sound training with Barclays Bank and more recently over the last 4 years with Arriva in Southport.
In June 2007 I heard Arriva were looking for bright “young men & women” to train initially as drivers but with a very real prospect of climbing the ladder to supervisory / management positions. My first 12 months as a bus driver were challenging and rewarding. Throughout that period I proactively challenged myself to learn as much as I could about the business. I supported a culture where change is positively received by regularly corresponding with the GM with “brainwave” ideas covering such areas as “Customer Service”, “Health & Safety”, Communication” and “Profit Improvement”.
A main area of strength lies in providing Arriva passengers with a superior customer experience, actively promoting value, understanding and confidence in their eyes. Promoting the Arriva brand through quality customer service I have gained a reputation as somewhat of a Customer Service Champion. I have received many favourable comments from my management team in this respect - a fact that I am very proud to boast.
It was pleasing that after only a short time my commitment and hard work were rewarded with a promotion to Relief Traffic Supervisor. In this position I have continued to develop knowledge of the business utilizing the wealth of transferable skills and experience briefly mentioned earlier.
Looking ahead, the prospect of further personal development/ involvement in the day to day running of the business is a challenge I view as both exciting and anopportunity to learn and develop new skills to a higher level.
I have built “great working relationships”, with fellow bus drivers/garage staff but and also Management/Admin. I have deputised for the OM as support for a driver appearing in court and am regularly approached by colleagues for advice and guidance on may subjects within and outside the business. I believe my colleagues would describe me as reliable, trustworthy, determined and willing to work hard to ensure the job gets done as well as sociable, easy going and always ready to help others.
