Minming Hsu
Student and Writer in North Carolina
A Taiwanese-American international studies major who is relatively unknown on the web, Minming Hsu has always dreamed of talking about herself in the third person.
Her interests revolve around her admiration of language and her aspiration to master it. She has considered herself a writer since third grade; short stories, articles and essays, as well as written discourse make up the bulk of her work, though she does compose the occasional poem.
Linguistic theory and foreign languages, however, are what she hopes to base her future career around, either as a professional linguistics researcher, translator, or interpreter. Paid writing, freelance or otherwise, would be an added perk on the side, but not a priority for the time being, at least not in this economy.
In her free time, Minming dabbles in music, cooking, and arts and crafts. She is also a little crazy about space and the idea of extraterrestrial life, but not the evil kind that wants to kill humans. She is a fierce advocate for the rights of women, racial minorities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, and would like to work as a social justice activist if the opportunity presents itself.
Her favorite book series is Harry Potter. She loves all sorts of movies, but a few all-time favorites are About Time, Brokeback Mountain, Captain America: the Winter Soldier, and Zootopia. She did not intend for that list to be alphabetical; sometimes things just happen. Her favorite TV shows include Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Orphan Black, Downton Abbey, How I Met Your Mother, and Friends.
Minming Hsu lives on the NCSU campus with her roommate; in the partially censored words of Jack Twist, this is an unsatisfactory situation. Ideally, she would reside in Greece or perhaps a remote, deserted island in the Pacific with many dogs and even more cats.
