Michael Houston

Mr. Houston trains English Language Learners in basic computer and communication skills. Software training includes basic keyboarding, bilingual (Spanish/English) word processing, graphic manipulation, page layout, and video editing.

Michael is a founding consultant of "Voices of the Street/Voces del la Calle Publishing Project", in which he trains marginalized, homeless and other aspiring creative writers to see their work into print. Michael teaches at a variety of Monterey sites including the California State University Chinatown Learning Center and the John Steinbeck Public Library in Salinas, CA.

Michael is also a founder of Picture Monterey.org which provides artists and arts non profits with video gear and production support to tell their stories on local access cable and the internet.

Mr. Houston, a retired bilingual teacher, holds degrees from UC Berkeley, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, and Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI.

Mr. Houston worked in PAL/VISTA programs in East Harlem: directed Meenan Park Children's Center in Derry, N. Ireland and worked as an educator in Mexico, Nicaragua, and California. He continues to work literacy and arts education programs with youth and adults
