Meet Miriam Mades. A skilled seamstress and entrepreneur living in New York, Miriam has been operating AlterKnit New York since 2009, when she opened the business. Prior to her current work, Miriam operated a knitting shop and cafe, which she opened in 2003. In the six years in between openings, she discovered the need for quality repair, restoration, reknitting, and reweaving services in New York, as well as the gap in the industry of those providing such services. Thus, Miriam opened AlterKnit and has been running the business ever since.
