Miriam Zmiewski-Angelova (Choctaw, Cherokee, African-American, Ashkenazi) is the President and Founder of 7th Generation Consulting, a Native woman owned consulting company providing professional and leadership development, content design and crisis intervention skills training to help build capacity in Native American communities. Miriam specializes in culturally tailored approaches to health-promotion and harm-reduction in women and adolescents and has over 10-years of experience in community-based prevention program development, facilitation and evaluation.
Miriam has a myriad of talents ranging from Public Health research to multimedia video production. As a training consultant for the Tohono O’odham Nation Youth Suicide Prevention Camp, Miriam provided leadership training to peer mentors and coordinated art and video-based digital story projects on suicide prevention. Miriam created a visually engaging guidebook to enhance Native American parent-to-youth communication about sexual health. She serves as a community advisory board member for Grow Native and Indigenous Strategies: Native Education Alliance.
Driven by her passion for community engagement and artistic expression, Miriam continues to develop innovative methods of addressing serious health disparities that are both strength-based and culturally centered.
In her spare time, Miriam loves to make jewelry and furniture, hike with her dog, rock climb and travel abroad on adventures with her husband.
