My relationship with music began in church at the age of 11, mentored to sing both alone and in choral ensembles.I grew to love music as an art form for self expression. Born in Kiambu, Kenya, I grew up listening to country love and gospel music. I was privileged to have access to the folk music of 42 tribes of my home country, Kenya while performing in the Kenya Music 'festivals circuit using a variety of folk and indigenous dances and songs. My love of singing spurred me to pursue music in high school and further as a Music education & English Dual Major in the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. On acquiring practical musical skills as a vocalist, classical guitar, piano, and flute player, I further developed these skills after graduation by enrolling in certificate courses with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music while teaching practical musicianship and music theory to students in Wynton House of Music, Sonata School of Music and as a private tutor. Singing and directing worship experiences at the End Time Message Assembly and affiliate churches in Kenya I got to develop my chorister and song leading skills. Additionally, at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music, I played flute and explored Classical and Jazz music styles. My desire to focus exclusively on music and develop my composition and music performance abilities I applied and auditioned at the renown Berklee College of Music. I got my acceptance in December of 2009 and joined the class of 2010 in April of 2010. At Berklee, I have worked on rhythm section and vocal improvisation, developing my jazz, afro pop, world and R&B; repertoire broadening my vocal and instrumental capacity on flute, guitar, and piano playing and performance. My projects focused on arranging and composition in Groove Writing and in use of Digital Audio Work stations and MIDI applications for the educator I am focused on being a music arranger, performer,singer-songwriter producer and educator. As of August 2012, due to a financial hiatus I am developing my skills as a practicing nurse aide and studying to be a phlebotomist,LPN and RN certificate.I am enrolled to complete my music degree in Music Production with Berklee Online Degree starting 2015 January. My artistic focus and specialties are as a Vocal Artist(Baritone-Tenor), Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, and Piano Pedagogy SongWriting, Arranging and Music Production.
