My atavistic fascination with ancient art has steered me towards the British Museum for years. There I hunted for objects that I find extraordinary and explored particular cultures through their art. I used watercolours because of zen like simplicity and transparency. I draw with a brush, then paint in layers, tentatively starting with faint traces of colours and gradually building up the details, shadow and light. My mind is positively stuck in archaic times, where a sculpture is on a grand and sophisticated scale. Portraiture of life and Gods from different earth regions speaks to me like no contemporary art ever could.
Parallel to my fine art adventure, I have been taken by photography and the immediacy of its medium. Besides commissioned events and portraiture, I have projects inspired by everyday city life, microcultures, unexpected situations, and personalities.
I wouldn’t call myself a renaissance artist, but I like to be challenged by different mediums in fine art, sculpture, design and photography and find myself enthused whichever I am using at the moment.
