Megan van Wyk

Megan trained under the tutelage of theatre doyenne Marlene Thomasse-Pieterse and graduated from Stageworld Theatre School in Port Elizabeth with her ATCL in both Musical Theatre and Speech & Drama.

With a strong love for everything dramatic from Shakespeare to Sondheim, she played in various children's theatre , dramatic and musical theatre productions during her time in PE before being selected to work with the Ubom! Eastern Cape Drama Co. under the artistic direction of Janet Buckland in 2013.

A versatile and dynamic performer with experience in clowning, improvisation, physical theatre, puppetry, mask work and workshop facilitation, she has played in HANAMICHI, HAMLET, THE ORPHAN OF GAZA, THE MAN & THE MOUSE and has also toured to schools with educational shows after moving to Johannesburg in 2014. She joined the Jittery Citizens improvisational comedy troupe in 2015 and loves making things up on the spot! She is a storyteller at heart and brings with her a quirky sense of humour, curiosity and boundless energy.

Megan trained in performance for film through Acting On Screen with Jacques Bessenger and Lelia Etsebeth in 2014 and can be seen in 'Roekeloos Vermors' - a short film by Open Window graduate Anel Steenkamp and 'Mignon Mossie van Wyk' - a feature film by Phoenix films set to release in 2016.

Megan is currently a member of The Framework - a company focused on the works of William Shakespeare with a special emphasis on honouring the text and playing to win - and will be performing in pop-up performances all over SA as part of the worldwide celebrations of the 400 year anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

When not blinded by the stage lights, Megan loves to get her hands dirty in the garden, manage social media pages, write songs on her guitar and explore the interesting wildlife that Joburg has to offer.
