Greetings, I’m Val a.k.a. MissGerMandalorian66 and a German Star Wars fangirl and collector.
People often ask me about what got me started to have one of the biggest Star Wars collection in Germany - well, please fasten your seat belts and get ready to get to learn about my passion for Star Wars.
My older brother started collecting Star Wars toys in the middle of the 90s. With the re-release of the Star Wars “Original Trilogy” (OT) as a “special edition” with CGI enhanced scenes Kenner released some new Star Wars action figures which - to be honest - looked quite bulky and muscular. But that didn't hold us back to re-imagine and play the adventures of our beloved heroes from a “Galaxy far, far away…”.
Now fast forward to 1999 when “The Phantom Menace” was released. My brother still quite liked the accompanying action figure toyline but eventually his interest in girls and to finish his exams sucessfully grew so he decided to sell all of his toys at a local flea market.
Toys - which not only held a collector's value but also a sentimental value to me were about to change its owner?
NO! Not on my watch!
So I politely asked him if I could buy it from him (I was about 12 or 13 at that time and only had a few bucks of pocket money) and he was like: “Val, you know what? I'm going to give it to you for free if you keep it. That's the only thing I ask you for.”.
I had a nice foundation to start from. So this is when I got into the collecting game. Episode II came out and I bought some figures, Episode III came out and I bought ALL figures. :P
First job, first own money and my collection grew and grew bigger. Over the years I completed several toylines from Hasbro - from the SAGA series to the 30th Anniversary line, Vintage Collection line and Black Series (6 inch) line.
The 100 m² attic in my house is the place I store all of my treasures.
Ever since I also started re-creating scenes of Star Wars movies to put figures in them (dioramas) I thought about a way to multiply different accessoires in a fast manner and that's when I was introduced to the world of 3D printing.
Currently I'm running three 3D printers which also allow me to build bigger projects like full scale robots.
I try to collect every piece of a line or collection but I'm far from having really EVERY piece/ figure/ vehicle, so much I can tell you. Most of the stuff I keep boxed but I also buy some figures like 2 or 3 times to put them in a diorama.
