I feel that my top strength from StrengthsQuest is Connectedness. I feel that I can find the connections between situations and utilize creativity to make the best of an event. Additionally, I like to find the talents and skills of different individuals and discover how these individuals best connect to each other. I identify with this skill the most because I utilize it the most when I make connections between ideas and relationships, and especially when creating goals. Connectedness allows me to do well especially in my Anthropology and School and Society because I can relate things I learn in class to my own future profession in the classroom.

By attending one of my First Year Success Series Activities I actually began to consider a lot more for my future by means of travel. In the Study Abroad session I was given the stepping stones for my plan to travel abroad. After this session I was really motivated to work towards a travel abroad opportunity in France. I wanted to learn more about the education system in other countries and it inspired me to attend information sessions through the Peace Corps. I feel that I want to use my education degree to help children in other countries or in impoverished areas because I feel that education is the key to break out of the poverty cycle.

The Dream Job activity also made me consider what I really want for my future. I decided that I never want to work part time or just teach one subject. Honestly, it pushed me more to consider private school education or join in humanitarian efforts to educate in other countries. After reading a lot of the job postings I realized the site had a focus on Columbus or surrounding suburbs. This really showed me I need to consider other job listings, because I’ve only imagined working in a rural school or in an area not as close to a major city.
