Missy Morain
I currently serve as the Director of Christian Formation for Children and Youth at The Parish of St. Matthew in Pacific Palisades, CA. I have been a consultant on issues related to Christian formation and church workplace justice and accountability, serving on the board of directors for the National Association for Episcopal Christian Education Directors (NAECED) now FORMA, as the convener of the Colloquium of Episcopal Professional and Vocational Associations, and as co-convener for The Task Force on Older Adult Ministries, a task force of The General Convention of The Episcopal Church. I am now serving the second year of a four year term on the FORMA board and serving as a part of The Episcopal Church Advisory Group on Lifelong Christian Formation.
During my time working for the Episcopal Church my ministry has evolved and changed, but remains one formational at the core. I approach everything through that lens, whether it is ministry with young people or adults, ministry with lay or clergy, or advocacy work.
Recently in an effort to "get a life" outside of the Episcopal Church I volunteered to serve as an advisor to the new Alpha Gamma Delta chapter on the UCLA campus, Delta Epsilon. After one year as the Gamma Advisor, I am now serving as the Chapter Advisor. It is a steep learning curve but I am delighting in rediscovering a community and way of being that I didn't realize the gift of when I was an undergrad.
