Mitchell McIntyre

I am a Sudbury, Ontario, Canada-based teacher who is interested in music, education, and acting. I have an undergraduate degree from York University where I focused on Jazz saxophone performance. I have recorded with a number of artists and have performed a number of times at various venues and music festivals. I have done work as a band leader, composer, arranger, and session musician.

I believe that a classroom should be a place where students feel safe to express themselves and take risks. Music and drama allow students to develop the skills needed in today's ever changing world. They learn collaboration, communication skills, and develop a deeper understanding of relationships.

I go out of my way to ensure that students are given opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities such as Band or school musicals. I believe that often students learn more through participating in these activities than they do in a regular classroom setting.
