Research

My research expertise centers on domestic civil litigation (tort law) for international human rights violations. In particular, I specialize in the US Alien Tort Statute (ATS) and the international prohibition of modern slavery. I am currently interested in corporate and sovereign wealth fund liability in customary international law. A central aspect of these topics is the relationship between US federal law and international law.

Consulting

With over a decade of experience in public international law, I am competent to consult, provide executive briefings, and multilayered-analysis (law, politics, and ethics) on contemporary international disputes and evolving jurisprudence. Furthermore, I am skilled in interpreting complex legal developments into a subject matter that the global public can understand and in which they find a sense of personal connection.

Generalized Expertise

In addition to my specializations, I maintain a comprehensive proficiency in human rights law generally, the UN framework, and the various specializations of public international law including international criminal law, consular and diplomatic law, law of treaties, and the law of armed conflict. Presently, I am reviewing the law of the sea, international internet law, the law of space, and the jurisprudence of the various regional human rights systems such as the European Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American system, as well as those of Africa and the Middle East with an aim to add those subjects to my skill-set.
