Mitja Bokun has been drawing since childhood. A native of Slovenia, he studied IT and Logistics before becoming a commercial illustrator. A self taught artist, he began illustrating professionallly in 2009 and his work can now be seen around the world.
He is known for his portraits, and is a prolific painter of celebrities and personalities well-known in the fashion world and beyond and he has been commissioned to illustrate editorially for magazines including Elle Slovenia, Reader's Digest, Finance Trends Magazine and pHARMONIA (which received awards for World's best medical publication) as well as Scene in NY Magazine. Mitja also participates in the organization of Slovenia Fashion Week where he created the visual imagery for Fashion Week). He works in all scales creating illustrations on paper as well as his recent commission to create imagery for more than 70 meters of store windows.
His work also includes collaborations with fashion designers where he illustrates everything from sketches for garments to illustrations which compliment photography for Lookbooks. In February 2013 he was chosen to illustrate the looks backstage at Vivianne Westwood's Red Label show at London Fashion Week.
He was also recently invited to give a lecture on fashion illustration on SVA (School of Visual Art) in NY and he was chosen to design the t-shirt for Diane's Pernet's ASVOF Tokyo.
Always seen illustrating at shows all over the world, and always passionate about his work, Mitja turns out upwards of 500 illustrations per year. He loves what he does and can’t think of a better way to spend his days.
Meanwhile he is also co-owner and co-editor of Fashion/art magazine Reserved Magazine with Whitney Mercurio, where he collaborate with artists like Milton Glaser, Giles Deacon, Richard Dupont, Peter Strongwater, Jim Downey and many others.
