Mixman Shawn

Mixman Shawn started his musical journey back in India. As a child he was exposed to the captivating sounds of Indian music, primarily through his uncle, a respected Punjabi vocalist. Mixman often accompanied his uncle to shows, where he soaked up the energetic buzz of the live performances. Although Mix did not realize it at the time, his early exposure to the music scene would someday lead him to becoming a respected music producer.

Mix arrived in San Francisco, California in 1998. Far from home, he felt a powerful disconnect from the cultural upbringing that he was used to. He would now have to flip the script and become accustomed to new cultures, and even more importantly new music. With exposure to various musical genres in the Bay Area, Mix took it upon himself to learn Protools and other sound editing programs. He began making beat after beat until he finally found his own signature style.

With a "Beats Without Boundaries" mentality, Mixman soon got the attention of a known record label, The Outfit Entertainment headed by respected producer, SHA One. SHA listened to some of Mixman's beats, and immediately signed him as a producer and DJ. Within the walls of The Outfit Entertainment, Mixman was able to work directly with experienced artists, pushing his production to new heights. His passion for music coupled with his eagerness to learn resulted in Mix becoming the go-to-guy for hot beats. The stage was now set to further his career as a music producer.

It was only a matter of time before Mixman would branch out on his own as a music producer turned businessman. In early 2007 he and SHA One formed a new production group called MixOne Productions, and Mixman founded his own record label, The Diamond Lane Records. A team of artists, managers and producers were assembled, and The Diamond Lane Records signed their first act, Jasmine Sandlas, whose single "Muskan" is creating a large buzz both in the US, and Internationally. Her debut album is set to release later this year, and has people in the industry eager to get their hands on it. Meanwhile, Mixman Shawn is working around the clock with artists such as Qadir and a host of other influential figures in the Desi music scene.
