They say to get to the top, you've first got to start at the bottom. Working as a Municipal School Health Coordinator in a rural Maya community has shown this to be certainly true. The struggles to receive funding, lack of "creature comforts" and frustration of ground-up development has strengthened my core and prepared me for further work in global development.
