Student, Teacher, and cheerleader in Durham, North Carolina
I am a student, teacher, and cheerleader currently living in Durham, North Carolina. My interests range from fitness to music. I am also interested in education, cooking, and travel.
Currently in my senior year of study in the Public Health education program at North Carolina Central University. In December 2016 I will graduate with a Bachelors in health education. With this degree I plan to attend dental school at University North Carolina Chapel Hill. I actively serve as a member of the dental society here at North Carolina Central University and the Annie Day Scholars Program.
During the past few months, I have participated in many different shadowing opportunities at local dental offices. Shadowing helps provide me with the proper knowledge I may need to know before attending dental school. These shadowing experiences also give me the opportunity to depict the dentist brain and learn about many different procedures conducted. It also helps me with the hands on experience on what this profession is all about.
Outside of academics I am very involved in the University programs and organizations offered. Since being here at North Carolina Central University I’ve been involved in the Annie Day schools program since my freshman year of college. This program has taught me how to carry myself as a lady, maintain great academics performances and better my leadership skills in all aspects. I have also been a member of the North Carolina Central University Cheerleading program since my freshman year of college. I started off on the freshman squad “Maroon and Grey” which cheered for volleyball games. During my sophomore year I moved up to the “Junior Varsity” cheerleading squad which cheered for the women's basketball team. Both my junior and senior year of college I was a member of the North Carolina Central University “Varsity” cheerleading squad also known as “Champagne.” The varsity squad cheered for on campus events and both football and basketball games. Cheerleading has paved my way in this world by providing a foundation on which many life lessons have been learned and creating an outlook that champions perseverance, dedication, and a commitment to the greater good.Cheering has also helped me with the relief of stress and is also considered a getaway spot for when things are a little rough in my personal life. Through these hobbies and goals I find myself enthusiastic, excited and motivated to enter this world of many challenges.
