Mark Fortin
Teacher, Musician, and Artist in North Vancouver
Hello everyone, my name is Mark James Fortin and I live and work on the beautiful North Shore. I am entering my 10th year as a Technology Education Teacher, teaching Metalwork, Architecture and Design, Electronics and Digital Media. I have had many varied and different careers in my life including: recording Artist/composer, carpenter, contractor and outreach worker. I chose to become a teacher late in life due to the incredibly transformative experiences I had while working with youth at risk on the downtown east side which eventually led to the opportunity of creating and coordinating an alternate program for youth at risk in North Vancouver.
I enjoy everything on the shore, mountain biking, hiking and skiing with my awesome family. I have many fabulously talented and crazy friends and live an incredible life, full of music, art, love and laughter.......oh and beer, I love my local, best IPA and Kolsch ever!!!! I am a lucky man!
I decided to pursue my PB+15 in Special Ed because I feel strongly that through compassion, understanding and connection I will be able to be a more effective teacher and be able to facilitate change and growth in my students.
I look forward to meeting everyone and to the discussions we will have.....
