Matthew is a Syracuse University alumnus who double majored in Newspaper Journalism and Writing & Rhetoric at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences, respectively. Matthew wrote and produced a number of articles for The Daily Orange, the university's student-run newspaper. He has an interest in copyediting, reporting, writing, and designing for print and online publications. Matthew also has a fervent interest in film criticism and would either like to work professionally as one or work at a newspaper, magazine or book publishing company as a copyeditor and research editor.

As a child, Matthew grew up in the village of Castle Creek in Binghamton, N.Y. He went to Whitney Point High School where he participated in many activities, including golf, baseball, track and field, ski club, and S.A.D.D., and graduated in the top ten percent of his class. He then went to Broome Community College for two years where he graduated with a Liberal Arts degree with honors having accumulated a 3.81 GPA. Following that, he graduated from Syracuse University with a 3.6 GPA (magna cum laude).

In his leisure time, Matthew enjoys golfing, reading, and watching movies. His favorite sports teams are the New York Yankees and the Denver Broncos. His favorite book is The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. His favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption. And his favorite quote is “Wisdom is not in knowing but in having known” by Edmond Jabés.
