Mario Jones

My name is Mario Jones; I was born in Adak, Alaska
but raised in California a majority of my life. I have lived in the cities of Ridgecrest, Oxnard, Moorpark and now San Jose, California. I moved to Ridgecrest when I was 2, Oxnard when I was 6, Moorpark when I was 12, and San Jose at the age of 17.

I went to high school is a small city named Moorpark in Southern California. It is a pretty small and safe cit, with a high
school that has won multiple national decathlons. I played 4 years of basketball there, and had a pretty good experience of high school.

I am now in my 4th year at San Jose State University where I am studying Health Care Administration. I became interested in health partly due to having to constantly be in shape for basketball, but also because of poor health within my own family. I had several family members die to an unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits. I told myself if I can go into the health field and at least have an impact on one life, then that would be a field I could truly enjoy.

Some of my personal interests include things such as health, athletics,
music, and anything else that gets my attention. As mentioned above I played basketball in high school and it remains one of my favorite things to participate in and watch.

I chose to attend San Jose State University because of its health science program and I also wanted to live in a different environment than I was used to for so long. What I want to gain from the health science program is a better understanding of health, from an administrative perspective but also a "hands on" perspective. I hope to take the skills I have learned and refined from San Jose State University,and apply them to not only my career later on but my life.
