My name is Marcin Kałkus. I was born on a beautiful autumn day on the 17th of September 1982 in a 985-year old city called Gdansk in northern Poland. I announced my arrival with a big scream and to this day I'm not sure whether I was screaming because of excitement or consternation. My early childhood was very nice, although I must admit I don't remember it much. In 1987 I went on a trip to Seattle along with my mom to visit my dad, who had been sitting there alone since the early 80's. This short journey quickly changed into a permanent residency which lasted nearly 3 years. After those first few normal years of my life, my parents decided to get rid of me for at least a portion of the day and sent me to an institution called Kindergarten. After I dealt with the language barrier signs of genius were soon discovered in me and I consequently received a promotion to the first grade. My adventure with American education institutions ended after 2 short years. My return to Poland is dated back to 1990, which coincidently was the time of birth of my baby brother. Back in Poland, to my deep dissatisfaction, I was once again sent to school. After another shot at the language barrier, this time in the opposite direction, I continued my education in the 42nd Primary School and 1st High School in Gdańsk. I graduated and received my secondary school certificate in 2001. This was when I decided not to let my brain retire yet and went to study Computer Science at the Gdansk University of Technology. My education formaly ended on the 13th of November 2006 when I received my masters degree. In parallel to my education for the past 4 years I have been trying to jumpstart my career as an independent software engineer. As of this day I'm also the owner of AMARU Software and co-owner and CEO of a joint venture called NETHOS.
