Mia serves as the Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly (IL-02). She was previously the inaugural Director of Health Equity Policy & Advocacy at the American Medical Association's Center for Health Equity. The National Minority Quality Forum recognizes Mia as a "40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health."

She is also a public speaker, a creative non-fiction writer, & a U.S. Fulbright Fellow. Mia's areas of expertise include global health equity, racial health disparities, and youth health. The National Academy of Medicine features Mia's original children's story on health equity, "Cole Blue, Full of Valor", as a permanent exhibit in their 2017 nationwide community art project, "Visualize Health Equity."

Mia aims to use her research, health policy advocacy, public speaking, and creative writing skills to motivate people —especially young people-- toward engagement of activities that prioritize mindful and strategic health equity. Check out her TEDx talk here.
