Marla Kessler

I like to tell stories. I have been writing mildly interesting, albeit true business tales for years as a consultant. But recently I realized that there were far more intriguing things happening in my head. After making sure I had not had a stroke, I thought, “If not now, when?” Trust me, that was one of the more benign conversations I have had with myself. But I do say, “Now!” with total excitement and completely appropriate fear.

In doing this, I want to adhere to three principles. First, I don’t want to waste your time. My stories should make you think, even if upon reflection. Second, I love women and will not disrespect my gender in my writing. But I think I can celebrate our greatness while still exploring our beautiful flaws. Finally, I want to take you on a journey that satisfies you but makes you want more.

I sneak in most of my writing after a full day of work and the kids are asleep. Although I have always been functional on 4-5 hours, writing actually gives me energy. It is the Power of Passion.

Encouraged by friend and family, mostly unpaid, I feel like I am off to a good start. But I want to keep getting better. So, gulp, I invite you to send me feedback about my blogs and stories. And please join me in my journey. See my first winning story, "Lipstick," on http://www.writersbillboard.net/writingwinners.html.
