I can honestly say that I've worked at the same library for most of my life....well, actually half. I began working as a library page in 1998 and have never looked back. In 2001, I accepted a part-time job as a circulation clerk. After a few years, I was given a full-time position and have remained there ever since. After earning my Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays State University in 2011, I was able to sub as a Public Services Assistant (PSA) at the reference desk. It was important for me to get some actual work experience as a PSA before deciding whether or not to pursue my MLIS. Needless to say, it wasn't long before I decided that I loved working at the reference desk and knew pursuing my MLIS was the next step in my library career.
I chose to attend KSU because of its reputation for offering an excellent MLIS program. If all goes well, I'm hoping to complete my MLIS is around three years. I would eventually like to advance my career at the library and possibly work my way up to management position. My leadership knowledge combined with my work experience would definitely prove to be very beneficial. I would like to keep my focus in public libraries, mainly adult services. Even though I've seen the good, the bad, and everything in between that goes with working in a public library, I know that this is the career for me.
When I'm not working, I love to travel, listen to music, attend concerts, comedy shows, exercise, relax, and read.
