When I was younger I always knew I wanted to help people. I loved to play nurse and help my baby dolls get back into tip top shape. I carried this sentiment of loving helping people throughout high school and would often tutor my friends if they needed help, or give my teammates on the soccer or track teams advice on how to nurse their sprained muscles back to health.

I have been playing soccer ever since I can remember. My father played the sport, and my grandfather was a well-known high school coach for women's soccer, retiring with over 500 wins for his team. Soccer was just always something that had been a part of me, but I did not yet know how it would shape my career. I did not begin running track until 2011 but I immediately fell in love. There was something so relaxing about going for a long run. Track, unlike soccer, however, did not as come easily or naturally to me. I had to work as hard as I could to succeed and sometimes this could get daunting. With the help of my coach I was able to train hard and by my senior year held the school record for my individual 400m time as well as the record for the 4X4oo, Distance Medley, and Sprint Medley races with three of my other teammates.

Until recently, I did not know how these experiences would shape me as a person, let alone my career. I am currently a freshman at Indiana University Bloomington and I began my college experience as a marketing major, but something did not feel right. As a result, I recently switched my major to Exercise Science in the hopes to become a physical therapist. I plan on combining my love of helping people with my positive and motivated attitude to heal people for a living.

Whether it be in the office, on the field, on the track, or in the classroom, I strive for greatness. While the beginning steps of any endeavor might be intimidating, all you need is that first step to get you started. Once overcoming this initial fear, the opportunities are endless. I am ready to take my first steps in my career, are you ready to take them with me?
