Dr. Marie-Line Germain is a research, teaching, and service award-winning tenured Professor of Human Resources and Leadership at Western Carolina University (The University of North Carolina System). Her Ph.D. is in Leadership with a specialization in Human Resource Development.

She has published over three dozen peer-reviewed research articles and presented over 70 research papers nationally and internationally (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, France, India, Peru, The Netherlands, Scotland, and Spain). She is the recipient of several national awards and competitive grants. She holds several leadership roles at research and professional organizations nationally and internationally.

In 2011, Germain founded The HR Consulting Initiative, which provides pro bono HR consulting nationwide. Under her guidance, over 800 of her graduate students/HR experts have helped over 250 nonprofits, small businesses, and local government agencies in 18 states.

Germain has been a visiting scholar in China, Ghana, Japan, and South Korea, and a visiting professor in Helsinki, Finland. She has lived, studied, and worked in France, England, and Scotland. She is a recent Fulbright Specialist research grant recipient from the U.S. Department of State. A list of her publications, grants, awards, and research roles is available upon request.

She has made numerous media appearances, including ESPN and WLOS-TV Channel 13, on several radio stations, and in newspapers (HuffPost, Refinery29, Bloomberg, The Sunday Times, etc.).

She is the author of 3 books: "Narcissism at Work: Personality Disorders of Corporate Leaders" (2017); "Integrating Service-Learning and Consulting in Online Education" (2019); and "Expertise at Work: Current and Emerging Trends" (2021) (with Dr. Robin S. Grenier)
