“Be yourself, everyone else is already taken” - Oscar Wilde

I am Malebana Mahlasa. A student at the University of Johannesburg doing my Bachelor in Education for FET and Senior phase. My passions range from innovation, lifelong learning, and personal grownth to music. I belive that as people, we have the potential to grow and imrove to be the better version of ourselves over time if we put our minds to it. Therefore I dedicate my most of my time towards personal development, learning and changing the world around me by thinking beyond conventional boundaries. I view Education as “more than just a profession”. It is my calling because I am an idividual who is driven by a strong desire to inspire and empower others.

I am naturally curious because the world is also ever changing (especially the technological world). So I constantly seek new knowledge to share with those around me because I believe that education has the power to transform lives, unlock opportunities, and create a better future for everyone.

Therefore, as a 20th century teacher, I want to become an educator who not only equips learners with knowledge, but also fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills by integrating new and emerging technologies with educational principles to better equip my learners and all those around me with the necessary skills to become their better selves and change the world all together. I hope to contribute towars building healthy learning environments that will prepare future generations for this ever-changing world.

Towards this end, I joined the Online Designathon 2026 Competition, took part in Coding and Robotics research, and I and currently developing my skills in Virtual reality and Augmented reality with the LAViR reaserch center at UJ. As part of my B.Ed requirements, I offer free tutoring services and conduct my service learning in the community around me.
