Melinda Mattos
Strategic Communicator in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I am a storyteller, relationship-builder and creative problem-solver with 20 years of experience in writing, editing and strategic communications. As a communicator in the higher education sector, I have become well-known for my ability to capture senior leaders’ authentic voices and craft narratives that enhance engagement and reputation. I currently work as an Equity Writer & Communications Officer at the University of Toronto and previously served as Senior Corporate Communications Specialist at George Brown College.
My prior career as a journalist made me adept at asking the right questions, learning new subject matter quickly and communicating complex ideas in clear, accessible and engaging language. During my time in media, I worked as a columnist at the Toronto Star, a copy editor at The Globe and Mailand Toronto Star, a story producer at TVOntario, lifestyle editor for Eye Weekly and associate editor of Strategy magazine. I was also the co-founder of Shameless, a feminist magazine for teens.
