Mncedi Thamie Mgwigwi is a digital activist and an aspiring futurist who is obsessed with seeing Afrika contributing meaningfully to advancement of humanity through innovation and technology. Mncedi founded Mmncedi Enterprise as means to exert more energy and control in ensuring that South Afrikans benefit from the digital opportunity.

Previously, Mncedi led the Eastern Cape Information Technology Initiative (ECITI). The organisation sought to establish information communication technology (ICT) ecosystems for development across the province and incubated many enterprises in the ICT and digital content development space.

In 2012 started a new career as a project manager for Innovate Eastern Cape (IEC). This, he says, “opened his eyes to a world he never knew existed”. Through IEC he interacted with technology entrepreneurs and innovators, politicians, policy formulators and bureaucrats from across the globe. Highlights of his stint there include the formulation of the Eastern Cape Innovation Strategy as well as the hosting of the World Bank’s Global Forum on Technology Entrepreneurship.

Mncedi possesses immaculate interpersonal and public communication skills. He has shown impressive results in general management, media, marketing, event coordination and execution, public relations and grassroots communications. He is a leader, mentor and motivator who is well-travelled within South Africa and in different capacities and has built broad networks.

Mncedi believes that entrepreneurship is the best liberator. In preparation for life after employment, he has founded Mmncedi Enterprise, an Industry 4.0. digital opportunity exploitation company.

Mncedi has been married to his wife, Sinazo, for 17 years and they have been blessed with three children.
