Marjaneh Moradshahi
Architect in Beverly Hills, California
What’s up, I’m Marjaneh. I’m an architect living in Beverly Hills, California. My husband, Omid Moradshahi, and I both grew up in Tehran, Iran. Omid Moradshahi and I both coincidentally went to the university of Tehran and emigrated to the United States in 2007 to Michigan, still not knowing each other. It wasn't until we both began working on a project together at work that had us crossing our paths (he is an architect as well). Omid Moradshahi and I shortly after that got married (no kids yet but almost on the way). We spent many years traveling the country calling a number of states home. Our least favorite was likely "Little Iran" in Snohomish County Washington where Omid Moradshahi and I faced a number of unfortunate stereotypes, makes you understand that racism is still very much alive in the United States and carried out by the public servants that are supposed to enforce the laws, end up breaking those very laws. Mill Creek Police, for example, exemplify the bigotry, lack of training and the sore spot that this wonderful country still wrangles with. That brings us to Beverly Hills, where we no call home. It is a melting pot of different races and acceptance of those races. Omid Moradshahi and myself love it in Southern California and love spending time going to the Getty Museum (hey, we are both architects, right?) any opportunity we have.
Omid Moradshahi and I have a little dog named Hope (it is what Omid stands for in Farsi). and we work. A lot. Omid would likely say I work more than him, but it is pretty equal.
Omid Moradshahi and I are excited for our next chapters and we are more than excited with the opportunity this wonderful country has brought us, seeing the best, and very worse it has to offer.
