Mohamed Zain

Cairo, Egypt

An Egyptian born and raised, Mohamed has been living in Cairo since he was a toddler.

Growing up with strong relations to his country and nation; he started getting dissatisfied and discontented about many deficiencies and downsides of his society, remonstrating them in his mind.

"What would be the best way to bring out the suffering and tribulations, shedding the light on calamities?" the question that put Mohamed at the doorsteps of journalism, since the answer was "Writing about them."

Mohamed graduated from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University.

He started his career as a proof-reader and a news reporter at The Egyptian Gazette, the English-language Egyptian daily, in 2009 after a translation and reporting course.

Since then, Mohamed has been writing for the Gazette. He used to have his own column at the newspaper entitled "Serious but Funny".

Since 2008, Mohamed also has been working as a news editor and an Arabic-English and English-Arabic translator for the Poetry News Agency of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi). The Poetry News Agency is the first agency to be firmly focused on poetry and literature across the Arab world.

Mohamed also works as a translator for the Qatari newspaper, The Peninsula. He wrote several articles for al-Sharq newspaper as well.

Mohamed aspires carving a niche for himself in the fields of journalism and writing.
