I am a twenty five year old student at Jacksonville State University with a major in Graphic Design. I have always had a passion for designing and creating new ideas. I was always drawing and designing things for friends in high school. I really became interested in designing when I graduated from high school.

When I became a mother at the age of 22, I lost my grandmother who was as close to me as my mother in the same time period. The whole time I was carrying my son, I was in a state of depression. Everyone and everything was against me. I had no one to turn to. I was ready to give up on my life. Designing or even graduating from college was the furthest things from my mind. Now watching my son grow up, seeing how much he looks and acts just like me and how much he loves me as his mother, there was no way I could give up on us. That was my motivation to get back in school and move forward with life.

When I arrived back to college, Sharon Wasden was my Graphic Design instructor and she was very accessible with showing me new things that I didn’t know about. She showed me new design techniques that I would use for a lifetime as a designer. She really helped boost my confidence as a designer and I am so appreciative of everything she has taught me with designing in real world situations. All I want to do is make a better life for my son and me and I’m thankful that I can do that while doing what I love!
