I grew up in rural Puerto Rico, surrounded by nature and with a cow in my backyard, which sparked my interest in all things biology. A scientist-turned-communicator, I leverage online technologies to make science and scientists accessible to all. My work focuses on empowering individuals from underrepresented communities, particularly Latinos, through bilingual science outreach, communication and education efforts.

I am the vice-director and news editor-in-chief of Ciencia Puerto Rico, a non-profit organization using social networks to engage Latino scientists in mentoring, communication, outreach and education. I am also the Science Outreach Program Manager for iBiology, a non-profit organization that produces and distributes free online videos about research and the process of science featuring the world’s leading biologists. You can find me on Twitter @moefeliu.
