Monika Ponjavić

I am M.Sc. in Architecture and a co-author of Body Never Lies, research in the field of performing art.
Body Never Lies has every intent to provoke, asking following questions:
Whether is a public building made for body and which one? How can bodies articulate space?
(by measuring architectural space and understanding the logic behind its creator, understanding and then design minimal spatial intervention to adjust space for the body)
Where is a space for our playing body? Does it really exist in a fabric of urban city? (by making urban toys and putting them in the public space)
Does a space constrain bodies in action? (reading and understanding the relation among spaces and bodies in action; architecture as scenography)
In short, the basic Idea of Body Never Lies is to explore the relation between a human body and its built environment. It as a performance bound by space, documented.
Every story happens somewhere.
I was chosen to participate, among 20 other young professionals and PhD candidates from all around the world, in the Open Spatial Laboratory, Theater Architecture Next, led by professor Dorita Hannah and in Crowd Coreographies, workshop within a workshop, led by professor Omar Khan.
I will also represent my country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Architecture Section of Prague Quadrennial 2011 within Performance Space Between set in Media Tower with Body Never Lies.
Apart from Body Never Lies I am currently developing a project called Letter To Unknown.

At the still point of this turning world: You are someone else, I am still right here.
