Mollie Clark
Student in Barrie, ON, Canada
Mollie Clark was born in 1998 and was one of four children raised by her two parents in Barrie Ontario. From a young age, Mollie was adventurous and energetic with an enormous dream to become an astronaut. As she progressed through school her dreams changed, and she believed that nursing was her calling, however, there was one problematic aspect of this dream… the sight of blood made her faint. Her dreams shifted once again when she was hired at sixteen for a job as a summer camp inclusion facilitator for children with exceptionalities. That job was a transformational opportunity in which Mollie fell in love with the prospect of being a special education teacher. This passion continued to strengthen in the subsequent years, and it led Mollie to enter Laurentian University's Bachelor of Education program in 2016.
Currently, Mollie works as a Child and Youth Assistant Instructor for the YMCA of Sudbury. She is working with children between the ages of six months and twelve years through before and after school programs and full-day childcare. In these programs, children are encouraged to develop a strong sense of self-efficacy and confidence as they grow in a play-based environment.
In the summers between her university terms, Mollie has continued to work with children and adults with exceptionalities as a programmer for the City of Barrie's adapted summer camps. In this role, Mollie oversees the development of adapted programming for individuals with disabilities. These programs consist of sensory aware content, modified environments, lowered ratios and specialized instructions to help each camper participate to their fullest extent and experience the true magic of summer camp.
Early into her education career, Mollie has been able to work with a diverse range of children and adults with varying abilities in many different settings. Mollie has developed a love and passion for education and hopes to make a difference in each one of her student's lives.
