Mollie LeVeque

Writer, Editor, and Consultant in the United States

Once upon a time, as a fully-funded PhD researcher, I had every intention of becoming an archivist or a public historian in general. Then Brexit happened and derailed these goals. (No, really.) My monograph focused on the Storyville Portraits was published with Bloomsbury Academic in 2019; even now, it still earns the occasional disgruntled email from not-very-nice people who like to shame women.

These days, however, I am a developmental and acquisitions editor for a medium independent press, as well as an independent editor and content consultant. I also write queer historical fiction, among other things.

My strengths include helping people's written and creative work become its clearest and most expressive, listening without judging, and creative problem solving.

Seriously, nothing really shocks me. One time, a beetle crawled into my ear while I was asleep in my apartment in Chicago… that type of thing really will humble you and keep you curious. (It all worked out fine, but a gaggle of med students got to observe the drama. I gave their supervising physician permission.)
