MICHAEL E. O’NEAL, Ph.D., an anthropologist and Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute (UK), served as the third president of the British Virgin Islands' College, having previously served as the first Resident Tutor/Head of the University of the West Indies, BVI Centre. He subsequently served for several years as Senior Research Fellow at Island Resources Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based organization, until the Foundation ceased operations in 2016. A director of JOMA Properties Ltd, a family-owned real estate management and development company in the British Virgin Islands, he is a family business advisor and Fellow of the Family Firm Institute. Dr. O’Neal is author of Slavery, Smallholding and Tourism: Social Transformations in the British Virgin Islands.
