Monica Gonzalez

Every morning Monica gets up and goes to work at Amazon Music where she is a design manager and design lead. Before her current gig she was Associate Director at Smart Design SF. She used to live in Seattle and over there she worked at Microsoft and held a variety of design related roles. She was a design lead for Windows Phone, she lead and managed a small team of designers in Windows Phone Kin and as a UX designer for Microsoft Office. Her designs for Microsoft Project 2010 won IDSA's IDEA Bronze Award for Interaction. In parallel to her Project work, she created the core visuals and interaction design standards for SharePoint Server 2010.

Before Microsoft, she spend a couple years in Pittsburgh where she studied Interaction Design @ The School of Design in Carnegie Mellon University. The life before her masters work was spent as an industrial designer, working for Bombardier Transportation, designing Light Rail Train Interiors.

Monica's love for design is motivated by the idea that design transforms the world and makes us human.


As a fan of good food, Monica tries to cook as often as possible. experimenting recipes often, her friends being frequent test subjects. The last recipe she tried was no-yeast Pizza, to great success!
