Monica Johnson Schroeder (SCS) of Birmingham, Alabama, began her career in mortgage banking in 1999, when she accepted a position with Collateral Mortgage. Remaining with Collateral Mortgage (later Collateral Real Estate Capital and currently Grandbridge Real Estate Capital) for the next eight-plus years, she handled a number of responsibilities related to the closing of commercial real estate loans and commercial mortgage-backed securities assumptions. In her role as senior closing specialist, Monica Johnson Schroeder also managed and trained staff members and ensured proper delivery of documents to such organizations as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

Ms. Schroeder (SCS) later transitioned to Capmark Finance, where as senior real estate analyst, she analyzed and underwrote commercial loans worth up to $20 million. Subsequently, in 2010, she brought her skills as a mortgage banker to Beech Street Capital (currently Capital One Multifamily Finance). She continues to serve Capital One today as a vice president of originations, in which capacity she concentrates on providing debt financing for clients across the country.

Monica Johnson Schroeder (SCS) majored in finance with a focus on real estate at the University of Alabama Birmingham, which awarded her a bachelor’s degree with cum laude distinction in 2012. Active in her field, she affiliates with the Western Housing Institute and maintains leadership posts with the Alabama Center for Real Estate and the Alabama chapter of the CCIM Institute.
