Monica Kemoli-Savanne

Student in Syracuse, New York

My passion for music developed at an early age. I began playing the flute at the age of six and picked up the piano, guitar and alto saxophone through the years. My musical interests were further fostered by joining the orchestra and choir at both my primary and high school. Once at high school I was elected co-director of her high school choir and was a key member of the worship band.

Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, I am currently enrolled in the prestigious and highly competitive Bandier Program for Music and the Entertainment Industries at Syracuse University.

I have gained industry experience as a management intern at Penya Africa (Nairobi), and as an events intern at MoSound Events Ltd (Nairobi). I am heavily involved in Syracuse University's music scene being Public Relations Director and Content Producer of WJPZ Z89 radios 'The Juice' show; Assistant Business Manager of the Black Celestial Choral Ensemble; and a member of University Unions research team in charge of researching current music trends on campus.
