Monique J Chelin

Consultant, Founder, and Author in QLD

Hi, I’m Monique Chelin, a company director, sustainability strategist and the founder of MJC Sustainability, where I help organisations navigate complex projects through clear strategy, grounded technical insight and a commitment to long-term value. My work sits at the intersection of project discipline, pragmatic sustainability and leadership culture, shaped by a career that spans geology, environmental management, consulting and senior roles across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Before launching MJC Sustainability in 2010, I worked with organisations including Iscor Mining (now Mittal Steel and Kumba Resources), GHD, PwC and Nakheel PJSC, contributing to sustainability frameworks, climate action planning and major development portfolios, work that helped inform emerging standards such as the Dubai Green Building Standards.

At MJC Sustainability, I’ve had the privilege of supporting multinational clients such as Vodafone, BHP Billiton, Anglo American, Qantas and Virgin Airlines on programs often exceeding US$500M, from large scale community master planning to renewable energy assessments and executive capability building.

I also founded TheGreenShop, an eco luxury retail venture that aligned my love for beautiful design with my commitment to circularity and fair trade. I’m the author of two books, Switch It On! and Enzo Finds His Friends, children’s book that raises funds for animal welfare. Since 2010 I’ve proudly served as an Ambassador for Opportunity International Australia, advocating for microfinance as a practical pathway out of poverty.
